The Arizona Philharmonic presents internationally acclaimed flamenco duo Chris & Lena Jácome, teaming up with musicians from the Arizona Philharmonic to deliver a unique and unforgettable holiday experience, Sunday, December 4 at 3 p.m. at the Elks Theater. It’s the spirit of PAZ (Spanish for Peace) that inspires Chris Jácome’s flamenco-infused Christmas arrangements and original music. Featuring Allen Ames on fiddle, Jeannette Moore on flute and Ruthie Wilde on cello, PAZ will feature favorite Christmas offerings ranging from the peace of Silent Night to the joy of First Noel, in addition to handcrafted flamenco arrangements of holiday tunes. classics and new original works. Chris & Lena Jácome deliver intimate, inviting and uplifting flamenco performances that only a perfectly matched pair can manifest. Their deliciously refined, authentic and heartfelt approach to flamenco reflects years of training in Seville, Spain, built on their original American musical roots and formal training in ballet/modern dance. They have released nine albums, two DVDs, sheet music and online training courses. Chris Jácome composes for the touring company Jácome Flamenco and has a number of scores for orchestra, chamber ensemble, film and television to his credit.
The Jácomes have performed internationally in Mexico, Canada, Spain and Indonesia, and in prestigious venues such as Lincoln Center in New York and the Redlands Bowl in California. They visit Prescott regularly, having given solo, chamber and concerto concerts with the Arizona Philharmonic Orchestra.
