FLATHEAD RESERVATION – Congratulations to some of our local tribal members on being nominated for a Native American Music Award this year!! The Native American Music Awards (also known as NAMAs or Nammys) is an awards program presented annually that recognizes outstanding musical achievement in styles associated with Native Americans. The awards were created in 1998 to provide greater recognition to Native American musicians. The awards ceremony will be virtual and scheduled for early spring 2022.

Gen Eightt is nominated for Best Country Music Video for a song she wrote and collaborated with a recording artist on

Linda McKenzie called “Disappeared”. A video of the song is available here:

Shadow Devereaux aka Foreshadow is nominated for Best Story in a Video for their original song “Protect Our People.” Buck Morigeau performs Aboriginal dance and speaks the Salish language throughout the video.

Shadow Devereaux, Artie Mendoza III aka Kiid Truth, Vincenct Bird Webster aka Yvng Vintherezchief and Sisi Pete, Siliye Pete & Susseli Pete aka The Pete Sisters are nominated for Best Video Collaboration for their song “United We Native”. You can see the video for the song here:

The song, “United We Native,” is also nominated for Best Traditional Vocal Video.

The winners of this Native America Music Award are partially chosen by online voting.

Public voting ends March 31, 2022.
