Pop singer Ellie Goulding recapped 2021 in a heartfelt Instagram post for her fans and followers. The artist began the post by stating that this past year was “the best [year] of [her] life.”
“I became a mother, the greatest joy I have ever known,” Goulding explained in her article. “I had time to sit down with great musicians and writers and made some exciting new music which I hope will give people who hear it the same euphoric escape that I experienced in there. ‘writing. I pulled out my first book, performed in front of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, the President and Joni Mitchell (and can’t explain how grateful I am for this privilege).
After that, however, the English singer-songwriter explained that 2021 was also “the most difficult of all. [her] life.”
“I struggled every day, every night, every hour with a kind of panic that I didn’t even know existed,” she explained. “If I had to really think about it, my anxiety has dictated a lot of my life and my career, and I feel sad about it. But it also made me who I am, and sometimes at my most terrifying, when I feel like there is no escape from the sheer panic and fear in my heart and brain, I remember that I can feel. I feel so much and that’s how I got to this place in my life.
“I want to tell you this on the last day of this year because so many of you ask me how I’m doing and often you don’t get an answer. It is because I was too scared to admit that the answer is not very good. I feel like something is broken inside, something that has been taken up deeply by the few people I have opened up to.
Goulding went into more detail about her anxiety and how she left people out for fear of revealing her pain. She also spoke directly to her fans to offer solace and companionship to those who also suffer from anxiety: “It’s not just you, it’s not just me. ”
“I have so much love and energy for everyone who is going through this. Let’s go through this together. 2022 is going to be a bright year. Positive energy. Together,” she concluded. “I log off (a bit) and send so much love to you all xx as always.”
