Father John Misty Creates New Album “Chloe and the Next 20th Century” – Billboard


Father John Misty brings good news: a new studio album, his first in four years.

The American singer and songwriter will release his fifth studio effort, Chloë and the next 20th century, April 8 via Sub Pop internationally and Bella Union in Europe.

Produced with longtime collaborator Jonathan Wilson, Chloe will be available in all formats fans know and love, as well as a limited edition ‘deluxe’ version in a hardcover book, with 7 ″ singles as bonuses, includes Lana Del Rey ‘s cover of the song. ‘Buddy’s Rendezvous’ album,

Chloe is led by the new song “Funny Girl”, which is accompanied by an official music video directed by Nicholas Ashe Bateman.

The next album follows that of 2018 God’s favorite customer, which peaked at No. 18 on the Billboard 200 and topped several genre charts.

Despite the gap in studio sets, Misty (real name Joshua Tillman) is never inactive. In 2020, the Maryland native got involved in coronavirus relief efforts by releasing a surprise live album, Off-Key From Hamburg, the proceeds of which benefit MusiCares’ COVID-19 Relief Fund. Cut with his group and the orchestra of the Neue Philharmonie Frankfurt, Hamburg Off-Key was his first live album.

A handful of live dates are confirmed for the coming months, including the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles (February 25) and the Barbican Hall in London (April 7).
