Music composer GV Prakash Kumar said on Sunday that he has completed recording three songs for the Hindi remake of the award-winning Tamil hit ”Soorarai Pottru”, featuring Akshay Kumar.
Directed by Sudha Kongara, the 2020 film was titled by Suriya. The Hindi remake, also directed by Kongara, will see Kumar reprising the role originally played by Suriya.
”Soorarai Pottru” recently won five national awards, including Best Feature Film, Best Actor for Suriya, Best Actress for Aparna Balamurali, Best Screenplay (Kongara and Shalini Ushadevi) and Best Background Music for Prakash Kumar.
The composer previewed the upcoming film’s soundtrack and background music to fans on social media. “I have finished recording three songs for #sooraraipottru remake in Hindi. Will be a completely fresh album with new tunes and songs. And the new bgscore… super loaded on that (sic),” he wrote on Twitter.
”Soorarai Pottru” revolved around Nedumaaran Rajangam or ‘Maara’, played by Suriya, who sets out to make the common man fly and in the process takes on the most capital intensive industry in the world with the help of his family, his friends and his wishes. The film’s story was partly inspired by events in the life of Air Deccan’s founder, Captain GR Gopinath.
After ‘Soorarai Pottru’ won several national awards on Friday, Kumar sent a congratulatory tweet to the film crew. ”I’m thrilled to see #SooraraiPottru take top honors at the National Awards. Sincere congratulations to my brother @Suriya_offl, #AparrnaBalamurali and my director #SudhaKongara. Humbled to work in the Hindi adaptation of such an iconic film,’ Kumar had tweeted. The actor began filming the project in April this year. The Hindi remake also stars Radhika Madan.
