Kashmiri RJ receives UNICEF award in Mumbai

Srinagar, 07 May: Kashmiri Radio Jockey received the ’01 Best Content Award’ and UNICEF Immunization Champion Award at the 2022 Radio4Child Annual Awards held in Mumbai.

The award to RJ Umar Nisar was presented by Ricky Kej, OIC UNICEF, UP. Dr. Zafrin Chowdhury, Head of Communications, Advocacy and Partnerships, UNICEF India; Dr Sachin Desai, National Immunization Officer, Government of Maharashtra; Dr Sachin Desai, National Immunization Officer, Government of Maharashtra.

Multi-Grammy award-winning music composer, environmentalist and celebrity UNICEF supporter congratulated more than 80 radio professionals from across India at an event organized by Radio4Child, the initiative of UNICEF India aimed at engaging radio professionals with thought-provoking programming on maternal and child health.

The two-day Radio4Child workshop commended Private FM and All India Radio professionals across the country for their commendable work during the COVID-19 pandemic as well as routine vaccination.

The radio professional reiterated the importance of routine vaccination. Umar attended and received UNICEF’s #DilSeDhanyawad award for his work in COVID-19 and attended UNICEF’s “Jal Jeevan Mission” conference to understand the role of radio in strengthening his initiatives, including #JalJeevanMission – “Har Ghar Jal” in New Delhi.

Speaking to Rising Kashmir, RJ Umar said, “This award will be an essential part of my life. It will motivate me for the rest of my future. And I want to dedicate this award to my listeners for all the love and support .”

Umar added: “Thanking radio professionals and JRs for their dedication and commitment to creating a better future for every child, renowned UNICEF supporter Ricky Kej said: “The media is a force power that can help ensure that all children are immunized, lead healthy lives and reach their full potential.

“We need to continue the great work done during the pandemic to raise awareness and counter rumours. Your ability to creatively reach your audience with information is a game-changer and delivers effective messages that counter vaccine hesitancy among parents.
