Michigan-born Kid Rock didn’t hold back on Twitter, calling Oprah Winfrey a “fraud” for supporting Democrat John Fetterman in the Pennsylvania Senate race over his former TV colleague Dr. Oz.
“Oprah has helped Dr. Oz with his career,” Rock tweeted Saturday, November 5. “I guess because she examined him and found him to be a wonderful person. Now she is against him. Oprah is a fraud. -Kid Rock.
The multi-platinum rocker has been unleashed on the TV icon for his endorsement of Fetterman in one of America’s most hotly contested Senate races in this year’s midterm elections. Winfrey, however, is a Democrat. And his endorsement along party lines came as no surprise to some after backing Fetterman instead of his former Oz entertainment cohort.
Oz was a former regular guest on Winfrey’s show before getting his own show in 2009. The Dr Oz Show was produced by Winfrey’s production company.
“I’ll tell you all of this, if I was living in Pennsylvania, I would have already voted for John Fetterman for many reasons,” Winfrey said earlier this month in a virtual chat with community leaders.
Fetterman’s campaign said the endorsement “speaks volumes,” adding, “Oprah is widely regarded as the person who helped launch Dr. Oz’s career and knows him well.”
This isn’t the first time Rock has openly criticized Winfrey. In a drunken rant years ago, for which he later half-apologized, Rock onstage said “fuck” Winfrey. Later, Rock went on TV and apologized for some of them, but not for his attacks on the former TV host.
Earlier this year, in an interview with Tucker Carlson about his Originals show, Kid Rock showed Carlson around his Nashville ranch. He also sat down to discuss the event during which he said: ‘I don’t apologize to anyone. I’m not an Oprah Winfrey fan. I got drunk and the next thing I’m on stage [saying] fucking Oprah…”
