Martin Sexton Releases New EP ‘2020 Vision’ // On Tour This Fall

Just yesterday, beloved singer-songwriter Martin sexton releases his new EP Vision 2020, available everywhere through Kitchen Table Records. Its first new release in six years, the 4-song collection captures moments of clarity over the past year and beyond. Stream or buy Vision 2020 HERE.

Vision 2020 includes the first single “Hold On”, a song sun-kissed through the rain bursting with soulful guitar bindings, punchy brass and a touching tale about the simple pleasures of spending time with loved ones. American songwriter said: “‘Hold On’ opens Vision 2020 with the moving beauty of a moment in time. The EP also includes “Calling On America,” which follows in the grand tradition of tender R&B cultural commentary embodied by soulful poets like Curtis Mayfield and Marvin Gaye. With a guest appearance by longtime friend and supporter John Mayer on guitar, it’s a song that features visual vignettes of love and harmony while envisioning division. Relix called it a “lively and varied look at life in my forties.”

Martin Sexton has nurtured a branded, critically acclaimed soul, folk, blues, rock, pop and sweet ballad aesthetic for more than three decades. A constant theme throughout his music has been the celebration of America. His 1996 album, Black Sheep, featured a rendition of “America The Beautiful,” and his first label was simply called The American. Martin made his debut in music leaving his hometown in upstate New York with seventy-five dollars and a Stratocaster to pursue his aspirations is also loaded with anthemic American Dream overtones. 2020 Vision continues this American story.

The ability to focus on defining moments has long been evident in Martin’s songwriting. Produced by three-time Grammy nominee John Alagia (John Mayer, Paul Simon, Lukas Nelson), 2020 Vision is a poetically emotional and elegantly evocative pandemic album of clippings. “In one song, I build a treehouse with my son. In another song, I walk through America and see the beauty of people going through adversity and loving each other,” Martin detailed.

An extensive tour in support of 2020 Vision will begin this fall across the United States. Tickets are on sale now for select dates and more shows will be announced soon. For more information, visit

Vision 2020 will always have its lessons and will remain in Martin’s sight, even if the miles on the road put pandemic life in the rearview mirror. One of those lessons is the power of unity. “My mission statement for the past 15 years has been unity through music, and I am committed to sharing peace and harmony through my songs.”
