Morrissey fans baffled as singer suddenly quits LA gig after being ‘too cold’

Morrissey fans have been left bewildered after one of his concerts in California came to an abrupt end – moments after the singer complained he was “extremely cold”.

The Smiths the leader was performing at the Greek Theater in Los Angeles on Saturday November 12, when he left the stage after performing a few songs.

Pictures show Morrissey telling the audience, “As I think you know, it’s extremely cold.”

As onlookers laughed and clapped, he continued, “Can you tell? I can. However, we will go to steam, where to go? Who knows.”

He then launches into an interpretation of ‘Billy Budd’.

However, around 30 minutes into his set, Morrissey surprised his fans when he suddenly left – leaving a band member to return to the stage to apologize to the audience.

“Sorry, but due to unforeseen circumstances the show will not continue,” he said.

As “loud boos” erupted from the crowd, he added: “Really sorry. We’ll see you next time.

According the Daily Mail, at the time, the Temperature in Los Angeles was 53 degrees Fahrenheit – or 11.6 degrees Celsius.

Although an official reason for the cancellation has not been confirmed by Morrissey, a statement about his social media platforms thanked fans for coming to the show shorter than expected.

It read: “Thank you for coming out last night LA. We love you and are grateful for your support.

“Please look forward to further announcements coming soon.”

A post on the Greek Theater’s website also confirmed that Morrissey’s concert had been “postponed to a date to be determined”, adding, “Please continue to monitor our website for further information.”

A number of fans online speculated that his departure was related to feeling cold, with one tweet: “So #Morrissey just left the stage at @Greek_Theatre after 30 minutes. Apparently he was too cold In the meantime, it’s in the 50s.

Someone else fumed, “Shame! Shame! Shame! @officialmoz Your fans spent hard-earned time and money to see you and you’re TOO COLD to continue after 30 minutes? #Ticketmaster I want a refund.

Another said: “Legit Morrissey just canceled his 5 song gig because it was ‘cold’ after starting almost an hour late… BRO WHAT we spent $300 on each ticket and we won’t be not reimbursed.”

A fourth wrote sarcastically, “So glad I didn’t give in and bought that $300 ticket to the middle section for my birthday present!!! Oh THANK GOD I didn’t spend my 63rd birthday for 30 minutes of Morrissey!!!”

But others have defended the star – with one fan saying: ‘It’s an outdoor, wooded location and at a higher elevation. I’m sure it was colder than 50° How could you really enjoy if you’re too busy shivering?

Some have also pointed out that people should avoid ‘judging’ until we have the facts, with someone claiming to have spoken to venue staff and learned that the singer was not feeling well – although that didn’t has not been confirmed.

LADbible has reached out to representatives for Morrissey for further comment.

Anyway, as someone who is cold, I can at least empathize. It’s currently 12 degrees Celsius where I am, and God knows I’m miserable now…
