Music can brighten your day.

A song played at the right time, perhaps with the right cup of coffee in your favorite mug, the sun streaming through the window, can really make life worth living.

At American Songwriter, we believe songs are oxygen to your spiritual lungs.

For this, we wanted to share 12 new musical works to brighten your day and share the good word of the composition. So with that in mind, here are 12 songs for you today.

1. Kim Petras

The smart and catchy artist dropped her new single today (November 11), “If Jesus Was A Rockstar.” The track features an acoustic opener and pop beat with bright harmonies and flashing puns. Check out the latest offering from the burgeoning music icon below.

2. Nell and the Flaming Lips

The unlikely collaborative force known as Nell & The Flaming Lips, which includes young singer Nell and established indie rock band The Flaming Lips, released their latest music video earlier this week for the single “Into My Arms “. Check out the emotional and thoughtful track below. The band released their album Where the viaduct looms and the physical version comes out in December HERE. 3. Perfume genius

The moody pop mainstay has released his new EP, Live at Electric Lady, earlier this week. The live album features four songs and lush instrumentation to accompany Perfume Genius’ heartbreaking and heart-pounding songs. Check out the work in its entirety below. 4. Bows

The rock band released their latest single this week, “Heaven Is A Place”, which is the second from their upcoming album, Electrophonic chronicle, out January 27 via Dan Auerbach’s Easy Eye Sound. The new track pays tribute to the passing of bandmate Richard Swift and frontman Auerbach delivers mournful vocals atop the bloated music.

5. Black-eyed peas

The popular rap group has released their latest album, Elevation. The 15-track album spans genres from rap to pop to Latin. Here we wanted to share the catchy opening track, “Bailar Contigo,” a sticky and fun game that showcases the tone and nature of the Black Eyed Peas’ new offering. 6. South Avenue

Memphis-based band Southern Avenue released their latest offering, “That’s All,” a funky song with heart-pounding vocals and energizing harmonies. seven. Annibale Buress

Comedian and rapper Hannibal Buress has released his latest single, “Knee Brace,” as Eshu Tune, a name derived from the benevolent trickster god Eshu. 8. Yuna

Malaysian alternative R&B singer Yuna has launched her long-awaited new album Y5 today and with it comes the new single, “Can’t Get Over You”. Check out the talented and rising artist’s dream single below (Check out the American songwriter’s interview with Yuna HERE).

9. Steve Aoki

World-renowned songwriter and producer Steve Aoki has released a revamped and energetic edition of his latest album, HiROQUEST. The new album, HiROQUEST: Genesis Remixed, features remixes by Timmy Trumpet and Crankdat. It also includes the latest collaboration with Taking Back Sunday for a remake of the rock band’s genre-defining song, “Cute Without The ‘E’.” Check that below. 10.MGMT

The energetic band have released a new live album, 11-11-11, which was produced in the spring of 2011 after the group was approached by the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum for its Maurizio Cattelan retrospective. Check out the opening track, “Introduction,” from the new live album below.

11. The Last Rockstars

A new “supergroup” consisting of artists Yoshiki, Hyde, Sugizo, and Miyavi has teased the release of two new songs, “The Last Rockstars” and “Psycho Love.” New band The Last Rockstars also have several tour dates already set for early 2023. 12. Run the jewelry

Acclaimed rap group Run The Jewels have released a new remix version of their beloved RTJ4 registration.
