R&B singer Ari Lennox detained for unrest at Amsterdam Airport | News from USA®

AMSTERDAM (Reuters) – US R&B singer Ari Lennox was arrested at Amsterdam Schiphol airport on Monday for disturbing public order, Dutch military police said after accusing airline staff of racial discrimination .

“I was arrested in Amsterdam for reacting to a woman profiling me racially,” Lennox wrote on Twitter Monday morning, following a tweet in which she accused “Amsterdam security” of hating black people.

Dutch Military Police, who are responsible for security at Schiphol Airport, said Lennox was detained because of her aggressive behavior towards an airline official and for being drunk in public.

“Our unit found a woman full of emotions, who would not calm down,” said spokesperson Robert van Kapel. “That’s why she had to be taken into custody.”

As of Monday afternoon, it was unclear how long Lennox would remain in detention, Van Kapel said, as police investigate allegations of possible threats made by Lennox during the incident.

Lennox (30), real name Courtney Shanade Salter, is best known for her 2019 single Shea Butter Baby, which aired nearly 114 million times on Spotify.
