Shilpa Shetty’s Chura Ke Dil Mera Remake Sparks Debate Among Fans; Kumar Sanu, Alka Yagnik react

Remaking old classics is a trend that refuses to die out. And the last to join the list is Chura Ke Dil Mera, which appeared in the 1994 Akshay Kumar-starrer Principal Khiladi Tu Anari.

Shot on Kumar and Shilpa Shetty Kundra, the song has been a favorite song for decades, and it has now been recreated by the original composer himself, Anu Malik, for Hungama 2. Benny Dayal and Malik’s daughter Anmol take over. Fans, however, aren’t too happy with the new version.

Since the song’s release on Tuesday, social media has been abuzz with people missing original singers Kumar Sanu and Alka Yagnik.

“#ChuraKeDilMera is one of my favorite songs from the 90s. .. choreography, chemistry between #AkshayKumar #ShilpaShetty, the combo of Kumar Sanu n Alka Yagnik. Sic),” wrote one Twitter user.

“They couldn’t match the 1% of the original song ‘Chura Ke Dil Mera’ … don’t spoil the old songs please …! …” another user wrote.

Many liked Kundra’s glamorous avatar, much like the original, but missed Kumar. Meezaan, son of actor Jaaved Jaffery, took his place.

We reach out to Sanu and Yagnik to get their point of view. The first tells us: “Mujhe naya wala sunke bauhaut achha laga, in the voice of new singers. I didn’t know he was being recreated for this movie. It was previously planned for another production, but made for another.

Yagnik also says that she was not aware of the release of this new version. ” But it is okay. It looks cute, although very different from the original, ”she adds.

People who have been in the music business for a long time are not very happy with this trend until then. The lyricist Sameer, who has seen many of his songs such as Ankhiyon Se Goli Maare and Dilbar to recreate, says: “The point is not to recreate, it is about not destroying the originality of the song. If you’re doing something for the best, that’s okay. Try not to disturb the basic structure, imagine, if there is a song that Lata (Mangeshkar) ji sang, and you take a new singer (for recreation), what do you do? That way you ruin the song.

Vocalist Abhijeet adds that while he liked Anmol’s voice in the new version, he is not in favor of old songs being touched. “The original music director made recess, which is a good step. I won’t say it’s a very good attempt, but gaali mile ya tareef, it’s for the original composer. In this song, the male voice dominates, and there was a drastic change, I didn’t like that. Logon ke dimaag mein original baitha hua hai, ”he says.
