Just when you thought about the promise of Starfield Couldn’t be more exciting, another announcement made it clearer than ever that Bethesda and Microsoft are taking no chances in trying to give fans what they want – and they’ve hired a longtime collaborator to make sure StarfieldThe soundtrack meets high expectations.
A whopping 20 years since he took his first composition job for a Bethesda project with Fallout Tactics: Brotherhood of Steel in 2001, acclaimed game composer Inon Zur returned to the developer once again, his first game for the company since the acquisition of ZeniMax Media by Xbox Game Studios.
The Israeli-American orchestral specialist has been the head of countless Bethesda game soundtracks, especially Fallout 3, Fallout: New Vegas, Fallout 4, and Fallout 76. His wider portfolio is also proving to be diverse: Zur was the mastermind behind the scores for Baldur II’s Gate, the modern Prince of Persia series, Crisis, Dragon age, and Soulcalibur V. More recently he composed the music for Riders.
Outside of video games, Zur has worked for cartoons, including Power rangers and Digimon, and also composed the score of the 2017 Emmy Award Winning Short Saber rock, which tells the story of the titular Afghan performer who helps coalition forces fight the Taliban in Helmand province, to become a popular target in the process.
The official trailer for Starfield, which debuted during the joint Xbox and Bethesda Games presentation at E3 2021, was followed by “Into the Starfield: The Journey Begins”, which features original musical compositions now confirmed by Zur.
It seems to have been an easy choice for Bethesda Game Studios. One representative said: âOne of the first things we start with in a project is the music. Our good friend and longtime collaborator Inon Zur has created a beautiful and wonderful sheet music for Starfield. We can’t wait to share more.
Speaking about this next big project, Zur said: âI would like to invite you on an exciting new musical journey which I have been on for several years. [Iâm] looking forward to sharing our unique and classic sci-fi direction for Starfield.
“My admiration and my thanks [go] To incomparable creative visionary Todd Howard, extraordinary audio director Mark Lampert and the entire BGS family, for their bold artistic ambition and the honor of entrusting me with the realization of their next groundbreaking experience.
As is, Starfield is slated for release on November 11, 2022, landing on Microsoft Windows and the Xbox Series X and S console exclusive.
